There are so many uses for essential oils, start taking advantage of them to create a healthy home! Cleaners often have harsh chemicals; if you can use natural substitutes, it's worth it!
Here are some DIY tips for situations you might face in your home.

Eucalyptus:
  • Add this to the toilet bowl to help keep it smelling fresh. Try to let it sit for as long as possible. Over night would be a great time.
  • Generally this is a great odor remover for anywhere you might have unwanted smells; sinks, etc.

Lemon:
  • Because of its antibacterial properties, lemon is a great cleaner. Spray a mixture of lemon water on counter tops and wipe off to sterilize them.
  • Soak your dish sponge in lemon water overnight to disinfect it.
  • In each gallon of carpet cleaning solution put 10-15 drops of Lemon essential oil to help pull out stains and brighten the rug. It leaves a fresh smell in the room as well.
  • Add a drop to the dishwasher before starting.

Orange:
  • Will remove sticky substances. Depending where the sticky goo is you can use a cotton ball, or cloth to remove. If it's on clothing wash after removing.
  • Use this to degrease items.
  • It's the best option for cleaning surfaces that had raw meat on them as it's been shown to inhibit E. Coli and Salmonella.
You can purchase essential oils at health food stores like Health Cupboard on 5th Street, The Vitamin Shop in Wyomissing, or Nature's Garden in Exeter.
